Twerk

As the next generation of cultural appropriation dawns, there in lies the twerk. The twerk, an action so destitute of its origins, so hyper exaggerated in its expression, that it only serves to devalue anything it comes in contact with.  This entity that has been stripped from its celebratory roots and mutated into a grotesque display of flesh. An action that is only the crude, bitter, and fatty renderings left over from the ripping apart and boiling down of a conglomerate of desolate cultures. The unthoughtful mockery and exploitation of centuries of endured pain. Here we have the twerk. The twerk that allows white women to be idolized and glorified for something that black women have been raped, beaten, over sexualized, highly fetishized, and demonized for, for centuries. Twerk, everyone twerk. Twerk at my dehumanization, ignore my pain with the indifference of your entertainment, and distort my narrative again with the spectacle. Make me twerk for you.
